Tomás Castro Silva started the business in 1969 and created the RICO brand in 1976, first making calenders and drilling machines. RICO built its first hydraulic press brake, the RQH 2030, in 1979 and its first guillotine shear in 1982; the PRCN, its first CNC-synchronised press brake, followed in 1993, the PRCB in 2010 and the electric PRCE in 2017.
Still a family company, RICO develops and manufactures its machines in-house. Besides press brakes it builds the PR-CELL robotic bending cell, the ATC and ATC Twin tool changers and HGR guillotine shears, and it says it is represented in 25 countries on five continents.
